ABSTRACT

COVID -19 is an infectious disease caused by the newly discovered coronavirus. As there is no vaccine discovered, the only way to prevent the spread is through following the practice of social isolation. Objectives:Prolonged isolation may also lead to psychological stress and problems. Hence the scenario is to measure the level of awareness among the people about psychiatric problems created due to prolonged social isolation. The aim of the survey is to measure the level of awareness among the participants on the psychological stress created due to social isolation through the imposed lockdown. Materials And Methods: A questionnaire was prepared and administered to a hundred participants through google form an online platform. The study participants included people belonging to the general population of Tamilnadu. The answers obtained from the participants are recorded and analysed and the answers given by each participant to each question were represented in the form of flow charts. Results: Around 70% of people said that social isolation affects mental health and 72% of people said that social isolation creates stress. 60% of people were aware that prolonged social isolation can create psychiatric problems. Conclusion: The level of awareness among the participants is moderate and hence a complete awareness on social isolation and its consequences must be created among the study population. © 2020 Ubiquity Press. ABSTRACT

COVID-19 has become a major threat to the whole world. Temperature being an important factor in India, the average temperature maintained in the regions has been 30-35 degree celsius which is scorching hot but the living population is used to this temperature. During the rise of the pandemic rumors were spread the high temperature stops the spread of the virus. It has been proven that the spread is less among tropical areas and also people have been explained that the spread will not be stopped but will be prevented to an extent.A self designed questionnaire was prepared, comprising 15 questions and administered to 100 common people from all over India. The participants were sent the questionnaire through an online google sheets link. The questions were studied carefully and corresponding answers were marked by the participants. The data was collected and statistically analysed. The output variables to be assessed was the perception of the common people about the role of temperature during the COVID-19 pandemic method used to present each output variable through a pie chart. The overall results were positive and the participants were explained about the wrong ideas and perceptions they had about this COVID-19. The Temperature and relative humidity in India is generally high. These conditions are not scientifically proven to stop the spread rather it has a major impact in controlling the spread of the pandemic COVID-19.

ABSTRACT

Introduction: A highly infectious disease COVID 19 caused by Coronavirus is rapidly spreading throughout the globe. Severe respiratory syndrome coronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2) is the causative factor for this disease. It has affected about 210 countries worldwide, resulting in over 1,26,000 deaths. Being a droplet infection, it spreads between people having close contact. It is contracted through small droplets produced by sneezing, coughing, and talking. The droplet could also fall on the ground and onto other surfaces and people touching these surfaces could also contract the infection. The role of the public in this is ex-tremely crucial. The citizens should abide by the rules of social distancing strictly. Everyone must try to stay at home as much as possible, even though there is an exception for those in essential services like government jobs and medical facilities. Going out should be avoided as much as possible, people should only go if it is absolutely necessary and even then not meet people or stand in groups. The study aimed to assess the awareness and initiative taken by the condominium office administrators and residents among the metro cities during an infection (COVID-19) spread. Materials and Methods: A questionnaire was distributed through an online Google form link to about 100 people living in con-dominiums belonging to all age groups. The results were collected and analyzed statistically using SPSS. Results: The majority of the study population responded positively to the awareness and initiatives taken by condominium au-thorities and strict rules were laid. Conclusion: The spread of awareness and the strict decisions taken by the public is very essential to fight against a pandemic such as COVID 19. © IJCRR.

ABSTRACT

The COVID-19 epidemic in China is a world health threat. So far now it is the largest outbreak of atypical pneumonia since the severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) outbreak in 2003. Within weeks of the onset of COVID-19 the total number of cases and deaths exceeded those of SARS.SARS is similar to COVID-19, and SARS is a beta-coronavirus that can be spread to humans through intermediate hosts such as bats, though the actual route of transmission of COVID-19 is still debatable. The World Health Organization (WHO) declared the COVID-19 outbreak a public health emergency of international concern on 30 January 2020. It has been debated among the political leaders claiming that there is error from the part of WHO in giving a wrong impression at the golden hour where the pandemic could have been averted. A survey conducted with a self prepared questionnaire comprising 15 questions with a sample of 100 people of Tamil Nadu state. The questionnaire was prepared with questions comprising of covid 19 and who January WHO report, these questions help to determine perception on COVID-19 and WHO January report and that help to depict their knowledge and awareness on this topic and what is their critical perception of the role of WHO in handling the COVID pandemic. WHO plays a role in the process of updating the methods to prevent and cure the pandemic outbreak COVID-19. WHO is found to test the positive and negative responses shown by the possible methods present against COVID-19 and displays the most trusted method among the available methods. In the previous study, more than half of the participants are found to show high concern about swine influenza pandemic. In the present study, around 71% of the participants are aware of the COVID-19 pandemic and the controversial role played by WHO in spreading the COVID-19 pandemic. This study concludes that during this pandemic outbreak most of the participants are aware of the role of WHO in the process of controlling and updating information related to the global pandemic condition. It is evident from this study that people are sceptical about the role played by WHO in managing COVID-19. © 2020 Ubiquity Press. All rights reserved.

ABSTRACT

Among many controversial claims on COVID-19 pandemic, one such claim is that the SARS-CoV-2 virus came from a lab, and is the result of an attempt to manufacture a vaccine against the AIDS virus. Another one was that the novel coronavirus may have been accidentally leaked by an intern working at the Wuhan Institute of Virology in China. These led to the claims that COVID-19 is really a lab-made bioweapon. An online survey was conducted with a self structured questionnaire comprising 10 questions about the facts and claims of Covid-19 as a lab made bio weapon. The results were analysed statistically with statistical software “SPSS version 20” and the result was represented in the pie chart form. In the present study, awareness of the pandemic outbreak, and claims of Covid-19 as a lab made bio weapon were analysed among the responses of general population, 82.1% are of the perception that Covid-19 is a lab made bio weapon and among them 80.2% of participants think Covid-19 is Chinese bio weapon. The study concludes that most of the people are of the perception that Covid-19 is really a lab made bioweapon and the study concludes that claims of Covid-19 are a bio weapon that China has created holds ground among the popular perception. © 2020 Ubiquity Press. ABSTRACT

COVID 19 being the deadliest disease all over the world regarded as the pandemic, the hope of every people is to get an effective medication that can counter it. There is a strong belief that chloroquine may help in controlling the virus. It is taken as an oral preparation. Chloroquine or hydroxychloroquine is a drug class 4- aminoquinoline. Chloroquine is contraindicated in people with heart disease or diabetes. It has a narrow therapeutic index and can cause toxicity easily.A derivative of chloroquine, hydroxychloroquine was synthesised first in 1946. Chloroquine is primarily used to prevent and treat malaria in areas where malaria remains sensitive to its effects. A self-administered questionnaire was prepared consisting of 10 questions and was distributed to a random population through Google docs and we got almost 100 responses. About 63% of the participants are aware of COVID-19 and chloroquine. SPSS software was used to analyse the data for descriptive statistics and chi-square analysis for association with gender. About 50% of the participants' perception is that chloroquine will protect them from COVID-19, and are aware that hydroxychloroquine and other forms of chloroquine are undergoing a clinical trial of COVID-19. If it succeeds it will have a big impact on the current crisis. © 2020 Ubiquity Press. All rights reserved.
